LANCASTER – After sitting on the bench mired in foul trouble for a good chunk of the first half on Tuesday night, Lancaster Mennonite’s Jess Rheinheimer got back in the game and got very involved in the second-half action against Lebanon Catholic.
Needing 15 points to join the 1,000-career-point club, Rheinheimer was sitting on 997 with 5:15 to go in reguation and the Blazers pulling away from the Beavers.
Lancaster Mennonite’s senior four-year contributor and the team’s leading scorer the last two seasons running, pulled up on the right wing and had a great look at an open 3-pointer.
Ka-boom.
And with that trey, Rheinheimer became the sixth girls’ player in Lancaster Mennonite basketball history to score at least 1,000 points.
Lancaster Mennonite went on to win the game 74-54, knocking Lebanon Catholic out of a first-place tie in Section 4.
Rheinheimer had 19 points, giving her 1,004 in her career.
Had the Flip Cam rolling when she connected with the 3-pointer that gave her 1,000 points.
Take a look …
