Manheim Township's Jack Barry, left, and David Musser, right, won the L-L League Triple-A doubles title

WITMER – Two Podcasts in one power-packed post here for you …

The Manheim Township tandem of junior David Musser and sophomore Jack Barry were the No. 1 seed coming into the Lancaster-Lebanon League boys’ tennis tournament.

And when it was all over, the top seeds took home the gold.

Musser and Barry took care of business Monday evening at Conestoga Valley, defeating Cedar Crest’s Wes Fortna and Ryan Zinn 6-2, 6-4 to win the league’s Triple-A doubles championship.

Earlier, Fortna fell to Lampeter-Strasburg’s Jody Sambrick in the Triple-A singles finale, and Zinn outslugged Lancaster Catholic Ryan Duschl 7-5, 6-2 in the Flight 2 singles championship match. So those guys had a long day on the courts.

Musser and Barry needed a third-set super-breaker 10-3 victory over Lampeter-Strasburg’s Sambrick and Caleb Smith in the semifinals last Saturday to advance to Monday’s title match vs. Fortna and Zinn.

In the Triple-A singles competition on Monday, Barry took third with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Conestoga Valley’s Darren Mast; Musser finished fifth with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Manheim Central’s Drew Wolgemuth.

Sambrick, Fortna, Barry and Mast earned spots in the District 3 Triple-A tournament bracket by reaching the L-L League semifinals.

First up, a chat with Musser, who broke down the doubles championship match vs. Fortna and Zinn and discussed the great competition around the L-L League …

And lastly, a chat with Barry, who talked about playing – and succeeding – doubles, and about playing in Manheim Township’s tradition-rich program …
