District 3 swimming/diving championship psych sheets

LANCASTER – The District 3 swimming and diving championships are in the immediate future.

The diving finals are Saturday at 9 a.m. at Governor Mifflin, where five L-L League divers will be competing.

And the swimming championships are set for March 2-3 at Cumberland Valley High School.

The psych sheets are out, and the L-L League will be very well represented in the championships.

Six L-L League swimmers will be favorites to win their respective events.

Manheim Township sophomore Dan Ross snagged a pair of top seeds; the Blue Streaks’ sophomore is tops in the 200 freestyle (1:44.18) and in the 500 free (4:42.23).

Also in boys’ “AAA”, Cocalico senior Sawyer Martin is second in the 200 free behind Ross (1:44.72), giving the L-L League a pair of favorites in that event. And Manheim Township’s 200 medley relay team – which won the L-L League title – has the third-quickest qualifying time (1:41.80).

Martin and Ross both won two golds in the L-L League Meet.

Tyler Russell, Kameron Kubicki, Dan Mallozzi, Austin Hill, Stephen Ball and Keegan Woolley are registered to compete in the medley relay in Districts for Manheim Township.

In girls’ “AAA”, Manheim Township senior Kasey Mann is the 1-seed (1:56.68)and teammate Katie Diller, a junior, is the 2-seed (2:57.20) in the 100 butterfly, giving the L-L League a pair of heavy-duty favorites there.

Warwick’s Emily Cameron, who won four golds in the L-L League Meet, will be the No. 1 seed in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.32), and she’s seeded second in the 50 free (23.75).

Also in girls’ “AAA”, Ephrata senior Kylee Parsons is No. 2 in the 200 free (1:53.19) and Hempfield junior Amber McDonnell is third in the 200 IM (2:09.14).

Three L-L League boys will be favorites in the “AA” field:

Lancaster Catholic junior Albert Everett is tops in the 200 IM (1:58.81); Donegal senior Brent Lonenecker is tops in the 500 free (22.32); and Northern Lebanon’s Ethan Gehenio is tops in the 100 backstroke (54.82).

Longenecker is also seeded No. 2 in the 100 free (48.45); Lancaster Catholic sophomore John Corbett is third in the 100 butterly (55.30); and the Crusaders’ 200 medley relay team (Luke Robinson, John Corbett, Kyle Hinnenkamp, Nick Draeger, Everett Albert, Zach Miklos, Reid Scott and Ethan Cubbison are registered for Districts) has the third-best qualifying time (1:45.93).

Manheim Central junior Paige Daniel ganered a pair of top-2 seeds in girls’ “AA”: She’s No. 1 in the 200 IM (2:09.35) and she’s No. 2 in the 500 free (5:11.59).

No L-L League divers qualified for the “AA” championships; four girls and a boy have qualified for the district “AAA” diving finals:

Elizabethtown’s Emily Hinson, Manheim Township’s Taylor Diamond and Hempfield teammates Brianna Digilio and Stacy Titone will dive in the girls competition; McCaskey’s Sam Guenin will dive in the boys competition.
